What is antenatal support, and why is it important?
Antenatal support provides you with evidenced based education about how birth works (birth physiology) You will learn techniques to help you through your labour and birth experience, and in many classes gain new friends navigating pregnancy and birth at the same time as you. Many courses also provide you with information about the medical options you have around induction and c-sections as birth in hospital is the most common option for women now. 100 years ago women didn’t need to seek birth education as they were often present at the births of family members and friends. Our culture has drastically shifted around birth so much so that for many of us birth is something we see on TV or hear horror stories of family and friends. Birth can be such an empowering experience and that is why it is SO important that you understand the facts. So that you can make choices about your care that are right for our. My antenatal retreat day in Northumberland provides you with the knowledge to navigate your birth and the retreat day and online pregnancy yoga provide you with movement and mindfullness activities to support you through labour.
Who is the antenatal retreat in Morpeth for?
My pregnancy retreat day is for women who are beginning to think about their birth experience for many women their planning starts from 12 weeks. You need time to implement techniques and strategies for pain in labour so I would advise completing the course no later than your 35th week of pregnancy to ensure you have time to really put your learning into practice.
What will I learn at the birth education day?

Yes absolubtley ! This day really is about you the mother understanding how your body can birth your baby AND all of the medical options that you may be offered in hospital.
Many women in the uk choose to birth in hospital so we We look at evidence based information to help you understand hospital policy and procedure… we cover induction and c-section births and how you might advocate for yourself in labour. We have plenty of time to discuss things within our group on the day which often supports learning and builds relationships with the women who may just become your friends for life!

Yes! Pregnancy yoga is safe for all trimesters. Our pregnancy yoga in Morpeth covers gentle movement to ease aches and pains, plus strengthen postures to support the later stages of pregnancy and labour along with breathing and relaxation strategies to help you manage stress and anxiety throughout this life changing experience.,

What should I bring to the pregnancy yoga retreat?
You really just need yourself for our pregnancy yoga retreat day.
Mats, bolsters and blocks are proved. You may bring along your own blanket if you want to use your own anchors for your birth preparation. (Some people use things that appeal to thier senses to help them come into thier rest and digest state to support labour) and example would be taking a blanket from home to hospital because the smell, feel and look of the blanket inspire a sense of calm for you.

Can I do the online pregnancy yoga course if I have never done yoga before?
Yes you can! My online antenatal yoga programme includes flows that are easy to follow with lots of alternatives given throughout the session to help ensue both you and your baby feel comfortable and happy! We even have some chair sessions and completely floor based classes for even the most novice yogi! These sessions are also great for the first trimester when energy levels are low.
How do I access the online pregnancy yoga course?
Once you have signed up you will receive an email with access to your personal portal. Using these details you can login from any location on any device!
How long should I practice pregnancy yoga?
The longer you practice the better if you want to really use the techniques and tools to support your labour experience.
Many women don’t feel able to start moving until their second trimester which is why there are so many guided mediations, relaxation and restorative classes (gentle floor based poses with longer holds to help your body grow and nourish your baby and placenta) This means you can still prepare for labour and ease tension and anxiety in your first trimester!
Can I combine the online pregnancy yoga course with the antenatal retreat?
Absolutley in fact I recommend that you do which is why the pregnancy yoga programme is part of the retreat package. Attending a single day or even series of shorter birth education classes is not going to get you ready for labour. It will improve your knowledge yes. BUT if you really want to prepare for a natural labour free of intervention then you need to really connect with your body and your baby on a regular basis. You need to practice tapping into your rest and digest state. (This is the system that is in control of birth) My online programme combined with my antenatal retreat in Northumberland or personalised antenatal classes in Northumberland or online will ensure you feel knowledgable, in control and the best bit, confident in yourself and your bodies ability to birth your baby in a way that is right for you both. ❤️
